I have only started using clinique within the last couple of years but so far i'm very happy with it and just starting to use the skincare rnages.
Make-up:
Superbalance foundation - medium coverage and feels amazing on my skin over a primer. Dewy finish where needed. Has light colour range that suits my pale skin.
Colour surge butter shine lipstick - if there is anyone out there who doesn't like lipstick because of the dry, dull thick look it gives. This is the lipstick for you. Its so smooth and skiny with out being tacky.
High definition mascara - i've tried a lot of mascaras but this is the only one i will repurchases because it makes mt eyelashes so noticeable and thick and long.
Skin care:
All about eyes - good, but i haven't seen any major results yet, but it feels nice on.
Liquid soap cleaner (mild) - good cleanser leaves your skin feel so clean and i love the way it kind of has bubbles instead of foaming.
I'm working on getting mor products, give me time.

I havent used Clinque since my teenage years but the two new products that Pcc bought do have my interest. The all about eyes rich and take the day off cleanser. Pcc, do let us know how you found them. Saw an ad for the new eye cream - impressive claims!

I have a lot of Clinique. The new skincare seems quite good. I used the 3 step for years when I was younger but found it didn't really suit my skin.
I could rave on for hours about all the clinique products I have had and tried but thought I would just list my current favourites for both skin care and make-up.
Skin Care
Moisture Surge Extra - Like a big glass of water for your skin. Can be applied over or under makeup or used as a mask. I give this ten out of ten, love it!
Total Turn Around Cream - An overnight treatment that exfoliates and refines the skin. Applied over the top or moisturisers and serums. You can now get the serum to use in replace of the cream but I prefer the cream.
Take The Day Off Balm - A wax like consistency that disolves every last trace of makeup. Also gentle enough to use on the eye's.
Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk - This is a brand new product. I used it for the frst time last night and was really impressed. Thoroughly removes makeup and leaves no residue.
Moisture Surge Eye Gel - Put this over the top of your eye cream or use alone. This is fabulous and is like a big drink of water for dehydrated eyes.
7 Day Scrub - My favourite basic scrub ever! Gentle enough to use every day and makes skin so soft!
Sparkle skin - One of the best body exfoliants I have ever used. It massages into skin easily and skin feels baby soft after use.
Deep Comfort Body Butter - Rich and decadent. A little goes a long way and it comes in a very large tub!
Water Therapy Body Cream - Easily absorbed by the skin, easy to apply and is a creamy texture as opposed to the butter.
Water Therapy Hand Cream - One of my favourite hand creams. You wouldn't believe how this baby hydrates. Absorbes quickly.
Makeup
Colour Surge Eye Shadows - Beautiful colours that blend easily. Very reasonably priced and come in a variety of finishes.
Stary Plum Eyeliner - A beautiful plum colour that really makes my eyes pop.
Perfectly Real Foundation - A nice medium coverage foundation that balances my oily t-zone and slightly dry cheeks.
Will add more later as things come to mind!

Mate, don't get me started on Clinique. As PCC and LB know I LOVE it, by gum!
The liquid soaps are lovely and very convenient with the pump bottles. I've been using the foaming facial cleanser for years - great for taking makeup off. Also really like the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel (as opposed to cream/lotion) and it's particularly good for summer.
Still aquainting myself with their makeup but the eyeshadows have a beautiful, velvety texture and the Impossibly Glossy lip glosses are great.
Would be keen to hear more Clinique makeup reviews PCC if they come to mind...

i have been very impressed with the few clinique products i have tried, and intend to try some more!
i have tried:
dramatically different moisturising lotion - i was warned that this moisturiser would be too rich for my oily skin, but i actually found it to suit me quite well when used sparingly in oily t-zone areas!
7 day scrub - i did enjoy this exfoliator. it is my second fave (after dermalogica skin prep scrub). it find it to be a bit more harsh than the skin prep scrub, but it is still good.
superbalm lip treatment - probably my favourite lip product ever. very nice and moisturising on the lips, protecting them all day!
quickliner for eyes - i have it in blue/grey which i must say is a beautiful and unique colour. ive not seen another like it.
long last soft shine lipstick in creamy nude - this is the best colour lipstick ever.
high impact mascara - pretty good stuff!

After using the no. 2 toner for a few weeks now, I refuse to live without it :redcheeks: . It has done wonders for my skin, not only keeping my pimple prone chin in check , but has given my whole face a brighter kinda glow to it (does that make sense?). I also use the Clinique foaming cleanser to remove make up before cleansing my skin and it gently removes my make up without stripping my skin bare, and does a thorough job I have to say!

I'm not the hugest fan of Clinique skincare, but damn I am all about Clinique makeup. I love it because it's just so WEARABLE. The colour surge eyeshadows are beautifully pigmented and have just a tiny amount of shimmer so they don't look flat. The colours are great too, most of them work well with my skin tones. Superbalanced and Skin Smoother are both great foundations for my combo skin. The airbrush concealer is my current undereye concealer and it's doing a great job. I love High Impact mascara (but I'm more inclined to buy cheap mascaras and chuck them out every month or so), it does indeed give a lot of length to the lashes. Clinique Blushing Blush powder blushes are pretty much the only blush I wear (apart from a couple of L'Oreal ones), because the colours are wearable and, well, I just love em. My favourite colours are Mocha Pink and Honey Blush (although last time i was at the clinique counter I had the impending sense of dread that they'd both been discontinued).
This is of course on top of one of my favourite beauty products of all time, Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. If you're a brunette and have never worn this, you're mad.
Oh oh and of course the superbalms.

I've only just started buying Clinique makeup and I do like what I have; a couple of powder eyeshadow duos (blackberry/lilac and cocoa frost); texture is very nice. Also happy with the High Impact Mascara (got a freebie and thinking about buying the full-size - live a little, I say!) and the Glosswear For Lips range is great. Not into the foundations, but have pals who swear by Superbalanced.

I am such a Clinique virgin! Had tried their skin care years ago and didnt like it (apart from Moisture Surge, thanks PCC!). Have never had any of their make up before! Keep hearing about that lipgloss Ozkat, might take the plunge one day although they have a new gloss with the word Butter in it (??) which looks good too, I am a corally kinda girl. Have also heard good things about the colour surge eyeshadows. They have a new mosaic blush which looks cool too. I have always walked straight past this counter but maybe I'll have a closer look next time!

Speaking of stuff in mags I noticed the new Almay ads are very much like the Clinique ones (which have won awards); that close-up stacked product kind of thang. Wonder if Almay is revamping its image a bit? Especially with the new 'bring out the (colour)" eye products.

Was having a flick through April US Marie Claire and saw a new Almay ad for a "smart shade makeup". Only comes in light, light/med and med and apparently is shade-sensing that starts out white and adjusts to your skin tone! It is hypoallergenic, has antioxidents and aloe and an SPF of 15. Yes, their ads are becoming more slick.
Doubt this will be out for a while but check it out at www.almay.com/smartshade
PS sorry to bump Clinique!

I tried it from a sample Luisa (sample was great too, lasted over a week) and it was very nice, a bit too rich for my needs but it would be lovely for an older skin or a colder climate.

Serena Clinique's Long Pretty Lashes used to be my staple mascara, it's definitely a fantastic one. It really does make your lashes long and pretty.
Alison - I used a Colour Surge Butter Shine of my Mum's a couple of times, the texture and pigmentation was really nice.

Hey thanks PCC! I will put aside til eye infection clears up though! I had an eyelash grow back on itself in the corner of my eye and it is very sore and infected. Prescription eye drope (you know the ones you can taste about 10mins later:vomit: ), eye ointment and antihistamines. Feeling on top of the world - not!

Hi Ness,
My eyes are quite sensitive to all eye creams. I don't know what it is but even if they are for sensitive eyes my eyes still seem to react. The only one that I don't react to is Dermalogica's multivitamin Power Firm. I am going to get the Dermadoctor wrinkle revenge too I think.

Yay Medusa! I hope you love it as much as I do. Whenever I put it on I think "why don't I wear this every day?". I'd be interested to know whether it looks more plummy or terracotta on you. I have heard reviews that go both ways. On me, it's definitely more bricky, and I wear it with a peach blush. It looks wrong on me if worn with pink blush. But I have heard it described as a berry or plummy colour, so it obviously goes both ways depending on your colouring. It also has a pretty crappy staying power on me :( but oh well. It's gorgeous.

I think you can alter the colour a little with a lip liner underneath. The one I had on today had a pink base (Jemma Kidd's neutral dual liner with Stila Becky lippy). I'd say a true nude liner would do the trick. The colour reminds me a little of the IZ Lip & Cheek Stain.
Edit: Used the make up remover & no sting! :clapping: Very effective too. Yay! :glee:

HI guys I noticed a lot of you love Clinique here in the forum. Rather than hijacking another thread I thought I would discuss it further here. I was the biggest Clinique Junkie when my good friend was the counter manager of Clinique in Hobart but then she left and I didn't seem to spend as much time at Clinique.
However the pharmacy I do a bit of market research for has a Clinque counter and I have started to get quite a few test products again. I am not a fan of Clinique skin care as it just isn't for me although I have it all in bucket loads from when I was a fan. On the other hand I love Clinique Makeup. From time to time I get a heap of samples I don't use or want (this includes makeup) so I will post here and if any of you want them I will gladly pass them on!

7 day scrub - was the first high end scrub I ever used, lasts forever, not bad, use a little and you'll get a great result! good for sensitive skin
mild facial soap - lasts forever & not bad if you like super clean skin! ... probably the only commerical/beauty counter cleanser I'd consider using these days... both my mum and I like this although she prefers the liquid version. its a no fuss cleanser, great if your not much of a makeup user like me and just require gentle yet thorough non drying cleansing.
I've tried a couple of the mascaras - alright, great for sensitive eyes.
Lipgloss/lippy/balm - great colours, non sticky, not bad for price either, last forever. All I use pretty much for lip products.
Eyeliner, I think stary plum quickliner is great!
GWP - eyeshadows fave's are Lucky penny and strawberry fudge.
I've used other products like the complete 3 step; eye treatments and other spealist skincare but none that I was really impressed with. However Clinique is a good brand that shouldn't be dismissed purely by their trademark 3 step... Afterall my HG perfume is Clinique Aromatics, divine!

Thanks for the welcome raspberryberet (incidently I was watching the video clip for that song yesterday lol) it's great to be able to talk about this stuff with people who are as into beauty products as I am (none of my friends are...they all think I'm a bit of a freak!)
I just went and checked the cabinet, and it was the gel that I was trying that was clogging up my pores...maybe I'll have a go of the one for oily skin...I was also thinking of trying out the Pore Minimiser Refining Lotion (or anything else in that range)...have you tried that before?? What did you think about it?

Oh right - dagnabit, eh? How long had you been using it for? Sometimes it can take your skin a couple of weeks to adjust to a new routine. But I know what you mean, if a product doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel right!
I've only used the Pore Refining Scrub in the Clinique range, and it was pretty good.
Perhaps you could try something with active ingredients in it ie. AHAs/BHAs? These will help keep your skin exfoliated. Could be worth posting something in the 'Ask Allison' section to see if she has any reccs for you.
Moisturisers that have worked for me are:
+ md skincare - using this at the mo: http://****************************/product-detail.aspx?productID=2776&b=46
+ Dermalogica Active Moist (very, very light): http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=9631
+ Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion (soothing so good if you're prone to breakouts): http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=9628
+ Ultraceuticals Ultra Hydrating Gel (exxy but very nice): http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/adorebeauty/viewitem.asp?idproduct=4976
And I'm keen to get my hands on something from the Mario Badescu line, which has many products targeted at oily/acne-prone skin. Here's the MB website if you're interested: http://www.mariobadescu.com/products.asp
....and it's stocked here in Australia at Kit stores:

I was only using the Clinique for about a week (I'm on the hunt for a new moisturiser because my Neutrogena Oil Free Lotion has started to fail me) so you're probably right...if I use it for longer my skin may calm down...I've heard a lot about Ultraceuticals and Dermalogica so I'm going to try and hit up my local DJ's for some samples to try out before a spend on them (they'll probably be the most I've ever spent on skin care). I've also heard some good comments on Aesop so I might check out the Mandarin cream

I gave one of my friends a whole heap of my un used clinique (and other brands too )stuff, instead of giving it to my mum as I normally do.... (I want my mum to change products as well, mum is quite keen to give natural alternatives a go!)....
I bought the clinique lash primer today and just tried it out, and I have to say its pretty gooood! I can notice it lengthening my lashes straight away and just feel gentle if that makes sense. Doesnt clump the lashes or makes them stif, which is the problem I had with my mac primer. Im happy with it anyways :penguin:

I am a fan of Clinique's Take The Day Off make remover as it gets the job done and is easy on my eyes. Highly rec this one if you have sensitive eyes.
I also have the cult lipstick - Black Honey. This is a great colour but as it is a sheer it doesn't last very long on. Love the packaging but the longeviety is a bit disappointing.
High Impact mascara is a goodun. It lengthens well and is really black. No problem with smudging or fallout.
My lastest purchase is a Cream Shaper (eyeliner) I got a dual one in Chocolate Luster & Cream Luster. These are very soft to apply, like a crayon. The lusters have a shimmer. I am seriously impressed by how well they stay on. They will smudge if you want them to on application but once they set, that's it. It does not budge all day. Yes do try. I have that problem also. Many of them sting my eyes or make them water profusly. PCC rec this one to me and I love it. It is a 2 phase one that you need to shake before using and the lid was a little tricky (like a medicine bottle) but you get the hang of it. They have a great little pack out at the moment that I got the other week. $36 for a mini bottle of Take the Day off, a full size High Impact mascara and a dual cream shaper (eyeliner). Very good value IMO.
If you are very sensitive I would also rec using Grapeseed oil as an eye make up remover. You get it in the supermarket next to the olive oil, very cheap. Just wet the cotton pad before for ease of use. Grapeseed oil is also great as a facial oil as it contains natural anti oxidants.

I recently got a mini one via a voucher. The only colour they had was 03 Knockout Nude. Looks like a shimmery brown in the tube. Goes on pretty nude & is glossy more so from the shimmer. Is a little tacky but comfortable.

Oh i don't like that tacky feeling. I can't wear nude glosses because my lips have nealry no natural colour to them so it just makes me look sick and ghostly.

Catherine, I saw this being promoted the other day in the pharmacy. Looks interesting. When I use to use Clinique's lip products I liked the Glosswear .... the texture is quite similar, in my opinion.
I have to say that I was extremely sceptical about using Clinique skincare because I have sensitive skin & have heard all sorts of bad things about it. I got my hands on a free set of the 3-Step system, however, and I am very impressed. I have been using the Facial Soap Mild & the Clarifying Lotion 2, I have not used the Dramatically Different moisturiser because it is the non oil-free version and I can only use oil-free moisturisers.
When I put on the Clarifying Lotion it felt funny but the cosultant said that is because it contains menthol which causes a 'cool tingly' sensation. My skin is almost perfect except I have a lot of flakiness around my nose & eyebrows. This has almost gone since I have been using Clinique. BTW the Clarifying Lotion is not a toner, it is a chemical exfoliant. I have also noticed that my skin feels smoother and is a 'glowy' :)
So please give Clinique the benefit of the doubt, even if you have sensitive skin. They're giving out free samples of 3 step atm so give it a try!

Sorry everyone, please ignore what I said before! After using Clinique for a week it burnt my skin, my nose was peeling & my skin became dry & dehydrated & looked awful. Luckily the lady at SK-II was very generous & gave me samples of her products which has fixed up my skin in 2 days :)
Maybe the Clarifying Lotion that I was using was too harsh and I should try the next one down but I'm too scared to risk it. Lucky it was free!

I used a lot of Clinique in the past 12 months as has my partner.
I have used:
Mild Liquid Soap, 7 Day Scrub, Eye Makeup Remover (blue bottle), I have tried many others nut now I have a mental blank haha!
I purchased Dewy Smooth after a Beauty Advisor tried it on my and I loved the dewy finish - but when i took it home I discovered it was the greasiest foundation ever and had to return it :(
I have heard great things about their Superbalanced Makeup and I love their blushers which have a flower imprinted on them they are so sweet and the shades are really beautiful.

There's a really nice Clinique SA at Parramatta Westfield in Myer. She's very helpful and gave me a sample of superbalanced foundation to try out. I currently use Supermoisture, but wanted something with no shimmer. Unfortunately, superbalanced doesn't really do it for me. It's okay, but not great. I had some really great results, however I found that it works best on a pink-based skin. Also, you would have to wear foundation over the top or it would wash you out. I'd suggest trying it first, ask for a sample :heartbeat:

Yes, I noticed it was a primer, so would use a bit of foundation on the top. I *think* I might be pink-based. I have natural light olive tones but I was told by a Lancome SA I was pink.
It's hard to tell from your pics but you look to me either neutral or pink. Just though I would mention the foundation thing for everyone's benefit because some people get it with aview to using it as a sunscreen on its own. It's a good product, and a good price too ($36) compared to other department store brands :)

I agree on the Lash Building Primer, it's the best I've used.
I agree with all of those except I don't see how 3-Step didn't make the 'worst' list!
The new Repairwear Lift products are better than the Repairwear Intensive (on the worst list), I gave the day cream to my boy's grandma and she absolutely loves it.

A friend had worked for the brand and loved it but when I landed a job on the Cosmetic floor, the other girls were blunt about their opinions toward Clinique: Yuck. I've tried the almost foundation which was good...I'be also tried some of their colour surge lipsticks and I really like them. I'm off to investigate black honey today. I've tried the Clinique 3-step but found it to be useless for me...the Clarifying lotion 2 toner is particularly horrid - very alcohol-laden...if you find it works for you though don't spend your money on it! I keep getting really big blind pimples, big ones full of pus and little ones on my chin mainly, this has been happening weekly now.
Is it possible that it is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion that i am using is bringing all the impurities in my skin to the surface hence why i keep having break-outs????
I have an oily chin and the rest is dry and my chin is where i get all my pimples.

Personally I don't use Clinique products as they have way too many harsh additives/chemicals in them which may cause more of a problem than which you started with. I find these products DRY out the skin.
Oh and I use the Clinque liquid facial soaps (purchase mistake) to clean my make up brushes...that's all that it's good for...unless you want your skin stripped to the max!
You can read reviews on
http://www.makeupalley.com/
I do think a lot of people react to these products in such a bad way. I would stop using them, and recommend a more natural alternative (if it was me) :waving:

PP you poor thing, I know it is awful when that happens.
I am no dermatologist but to be perfectly honest with you I think that line used by cosmetics company - that the products initially cause a bad reaction because the impurities are coming to the surface - is a bit of a farce and an excuse to make you keep the products when you go to return them. Cystic acne - which is what you have described - is caused by hormones (especially around the chin and jaw) and the inflammation is actually in the sebaceous gland itself. Skincare cannot do much to either cause or prevent that condition, unless maybe you are using an oily cream which may exacerbate it. The only thing that can help is prescription medication from your doctor or dermatologist.
In any case, the Clarifying Lotion is full of alcohol which has virtually no benefit for your skin as it is so irritating. I would recommend that you use something else that it is alcohol-free and contains salicylic acid to exfoliate your pores to prevent superficial break-outs (i.e. pimples on the surface of your skin that come to a head).
I hope I have answered your questions and that your skin clears up soon!
Gemma
01-07-2009, 06:43 PM
I suggest you go see a dermatologist, as no one can really diagnose your skin condition without looking at it face to face.
I know when I've had a reaction to products...I get hives which do look like little pimples filled with pus, mainly on my chin area. (sensitive area for me also) It's the skin's defences reacting, letting you know that it doesn't like (whatever bad thing that you have put on it)
There are two reactions that can occur following exposure to cosmetics. The first, irritant contact dermatitis, is the more common type and generally occurs at the site of contact with the irritating substance. The second is allergic contact dermatitis, which occurs in people who are allergic to a specific ingredient or ingredients. Allergic contact dermatitis is an immunological response from the body, meaning the immune system reacts against a specific substance that it considers foreign and harmful, and is not an immediate effect.
Salicylic acid is used to treat many skin conditions, including acne, dandruff, psoriasis, seborrhea, calluses, corns, common warts and plantar warts. It may be a good substitute for benzoyl peroxide for your benzoyl-peroxide-sensitive people. However, it is a form of aspirin, so if you are allergic to aspirin, don’t use products containing salicylic acid.
I hope your complexion gets better and I do KNOW how you feel. My skin has never reacted to natural products, even though you do have to be careful with every thing...it's all trial and error...Good Luck!

Dermatologists rarely do, mostly they just recommend Cetaphil or Benzac etc, cheap from the pharmacy. They will most likely give you some kind of prescription medication which will hopefully be covered by Medicare :)

I just ordered one of Clinique's new Quick Blush thingies. They look kinda cute and the product is built into the lid and the brush is on the other end! Think this would be cool for the handbag or for travel. I ordered Pronto Pink.
I also ordered a couple of the new Fresh Bloom Limited Edition Eye Shadows. They look so pretty. I got Maple Blossom and Tiger Lily. Will review them when I get them.
I saw these last night, they are sooo pretty :heartbeat:
I got a sample of even better skin tone corrector. My friend was buying some Clinique foundation and a moisturiser and the SA handed us both a sample.

The dr didn't refer me to see a derm but she gave me antibiotics and to change my pill to Yazmine becaue it is benefial to the skin etc, but i'm scared i'll get my migraines back.
I'm going to give the antibiotics a go and then see.

Ladies, sorry for butting in but I think this is what you're talking about but I saw an advertisement for Yaz while I was in the USA & it wasbasically a retractment of a statement that Yaz is good for your skin. Yaz is actually a treatment for & the effects of PMDD. It's not a birth control pill & according to the advertisement, it's not for clearing skin.
Yasmine is a BCP though, it's the one I take when I do take it.

Dr's think prescribing pills are the answer to everything and taking the contraceptive pill cures all.
I've tried all sorts of pills, looking for the holy grail to cure my skin complaints...and they did absolutely nothing for my skin nor for me. :redcheeks:
My body just doesn't like chemicals inside or out. I really don't want fake chemicals controlling my body. The pill causes so much damage, especially plays havoc with the liver and I'm not willing to taking the risk of all the ill :vomit:  side effects, just not worth it for me.
Tho I guess it's good if it works for others.
Gemma I see what you are saying but cystic acne is caused by hormones so the only thing that can make a real difference is medication. You can wait it out but doing so may cause lifelong physical face scars that are expensive and painful to get rid of.

Gemma I see what you are saying but cystic acne is caused by hormones so the only thing that can make a real difference is medication. You can wait it out but doing so may cause lifelong physical face scars that are expensive and painful to get rid of.
I had cystic acne when I was a teenager, my mother put me on a course of tetracycline (antibiotic) for while and it made me very sick. :vomit: they were huge, orange horse pellets, I felt like gagging every time I took them.
Here are some side effects that this medication caused. Sun sensitivity, gastrointestinal irritation is also common. Staining of teeth, enamel hypoplasia, and inhibition of skeletal growth is also documented. Yeast infections in the mouth, rectal and genital areas are increased.
Pseudotumor cerebri is very uncommon and may be seen after 2 weeks to 10 months of taking this drug. The symptoms are headache, vomiting, nausea and double vision. Discontinuing the drug early will reverse the problem. So I took myself of this horrible drug. Doctors prescribed the (contraceptive) pill and this had no effect, only making me feel worse.
I still managed my acne, and yes it is hormonal, I took myself off to a naturopath and she put me on the vitamins and minerals that my diet was lacking, zinc being one of them. Oh and too top it off I have minimal scarring, no one would know that I had bad cystic acne as a teenager.
I still get pimples but not as bad as I used too. Pregnancy seemed to settle them down and my skin and hair were at it's best while being pregnant. I guess I did wait it out, tho did it the natural way. What the naturopath did the Dr's couldn't
Now I just maintain my skin with a good diet and supplements, lots of water and using appropriate products for my complexion. Tho because I had such oily skin it was a blessing in disguise as I look way younger than my years. :) So people tell me....

I thought Tetracycline was an antibiotic not a contraceptive? I find A/B's can be quite hard on the system but sometimes there's no escaping having to take an A/B. But anyway - don't think we're allowed to discuss specific medications - if in doubt always consult your GP :)

I realise that all contraceptive pills can cause migraines but i had suffered with at least 3 migraines a week which included hospital visits with injected painkillers and sedatives and i've tried 2 other pills and a preventaive drug aswell and it took me too long and too much pain to change pills easily.
I know my pill is causing me my skin troubles but i've started to treat them with skincare instead of changin my pill becuae i'm just too scared to get another migraine:hugs:

But i'm so glad it works for you :hugs:
Back to the hormonal skin troubles i have been having, it seems to have improved a lot, but not completelt dissapeared. I'm started to use mineral make-up and not wear any if i can get away with it. I use CLinique liquid soap at night then either rosehip oil or cetaphil lotion and then in the morning i use cetaphil cleanser and my normal oil free neutrogena moisturiser and a light primer like the Natio rose-hip one. My skin is less irritated and the pimple that i would get smack bang in the middle of chin doesn't actually come about, yeah its a lump but no pus and not red. My skin is super smooth too.

I was exactly the same! I used to use the worst stuff on my skin as a teen - because I had so many breakouts - I used all the horrible clean and clear and clearasil stuff! If only I had someone to guide me back then!
Now my skin is much better with gentle, purifying milk cleansers, and like you - hydrating but not oily products.

I went on Thursday and bought city block 30+ and quickliner for eyes in smokey brown, to get the gwp. I am wearing the city block, quickliner, eyeshadows, lip gloss and blush today. Today is the first time I have worn it, but so far, so good. It was nice and soft to apply, no dragging or pulling, but the line still stayed quite thin. The colour is a lovely soft darkish brown. I don't generally wear eyeliner, but this is nice. It's only halfway through the day, but no smuging yet. I will report back if I have any trouble with it.

I have only used it three times, but I haven't found it at all greasy yet. I have an oily t zone with drier cheeks. I have been applying it fairly lightly so far (just in case I have a reaction) but I plan to apply it fully tomorrow so that will be a better test, I will report back. I'm not a fan of the greasy, tackiness some sunscreens have, but the city block just seems to soak in after a couple of minutes and then seems kind of matte almost. I guess this is why clinique say it can be used as a primer.

HI Elle,
I have been using City Block for a couple of years, I think it's excellent. It goes on creamy but dries to a nice matte finish and doesn't feel heavy or sticky at all. It's def my fave sunscreen (I also interchange with BECCA mineral primer if I want it for that purpose). I get a slightly oily t-zone and am breakout prone on my jawline and this doesn't cause me any problems.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes I've used the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, I've gone through a couple of them actually. Lovely dark sheer red colour (it's actually leaning towards a warmer red with a slight terracotta undertone, as opposed to a berry) which looks beautiful as Madison said with pale skin and dark hair.

No I haven't, however the Concentrate is more concentrated (lol) than the cream was so based on that I'm guessing that the results would be better! I think they changed the formula because they didn't want people just using the cream, they want you to use the serum then a separate moisturiser. The serum is not hydrating but it does smooth out the skin beautifully.

That Dark Spot Corrector looks interesting to me. I use a 2% hydroquinone formulation for my dark pigmentation that comes with any kind of scarring and occurs even when I don't touch a pimple, but I've read some worrying things about hydroquinone, even though I'm using a small percentage, would be good to try something else. It says it will be launching in the US from March, wonder when it'll hit Australia.

So I need some advice please! I've been a loyal user of the Kit 30+ face suncream for a while now, but I realised after getting a teensy bit burnt while swimming that I need something waterproof to wear on my cleave and this is not. I've used and loved the Clinique 15+ suncream in Europe as it's broad spectrum, oil free, fragrance free and waterproof. I was looking at purchasing the 30+ version that we have in Australia, but was wondering how the Sheer City Block compares to this? Is it simply that it is a physical blocker as opposed to a chemical blocker? I find clinique products really good for my skin as my skin is very sensitive, but not sure which to go for?

Elmo - I'm not sure, but I don't think Sheer City Block would be waterproof? I use it, sometimes on its own and sometimes under other stuff and I really like it. It's not as tinted as a tinted moisturiser, but evens things out a little, or makes a good primer under other stuff.

From memory the City Block is a hybrid chemical/physical sunscreen and the other sunscreen in the orange tube is purely chemical which is why it is waterproof. Physical sunscreens lose their protective qualities when they are washed off in the water. :kissing:

Ah ok. I used to use the mineral one and loved it.
Thanks ladies! :kissing:
After using the 30+ chemical waterproof one in Bali I've decided it's love. This stuff is perfect, and I have absolutely zero irritation from it. I do love wearing zinc under makeup (currently loving the ASAP one) but for beach/swimming I prefer something waterproof as I love spending lots of time in the water and I start to panic when I think my sunscreen has washed off!
Back to Clinique - I keep reading heaps of rave reviews of the Even Better Foundation...has anyone tried it? I don't have issues with pigmentation, but everyone keeps saying it's just a wonderful foundation for combo skin.
*I'm also quietly devo that the Quick Eyes Cream Shadow is no longer available in Australia :(

Hey, elmo! I was just about to ask the very same question!
Anyone tried the Even Better Foundation? A friend wore it this week and she looked HOT and, naturally, I want to look HOT too...!!!!! I think it is described as having a medium to full matte finish but it looked more dewy than matte to me (???). A couple of reviewers mentioned oxidisation as being an issue- anyone else experienced this? I'm have to see if I can get a sample from somewhere to test it myself.

I've been using Clinique products for years. I love their Almost Lipstick line (Black Honey is a favorite) as well as their regular lipsticks. I stocked up on Clinique's Charcoal Brown eyeliner pencil, and it's still my favorite eyeliner. The only product that I'm slightly disappointed in is the nail polish, since I don't get a lot of wear out of it before it starts chipping.
