What is your favourite body lotion?

Has anyone had a chance to checkout the new Napolean Perdis Body packs with body lotion and shower gel in them (available from Adore Beauty ofcourse)? I have purchased both packs, the Pomegranate & Fig and the French Lemon and might I just say that they are devine! I don't know which one I love more. They are so reasonably priced just $35.00 for each pack and they leave you smelling gorgeous. They would also be a great gift idea for Birthday's or Christmas.

Do I have to pick just one? :p

Ummmm... I really like Aesop's Rejuvenate body cream - smells yummy and is really moisturising. I also love the smell of Clarins Eau Dynamisante body lotion but my partner hates it so I don't get to wear it very often

When my skin gets reeeeally dry, the absolute most ultra-hydrating body lotion is the Ultraceuticals Ultra ACE Body Treatment - it totally gets rid of the lizard effect - but can be a bit sticky for everyday use.

As far as cheapies go, I love Nivea Moisturising Care Lotion for Normal Skin, and the good ol' Palmer's Cocoa Butter. But if we're talking luxe lotions I love Clarins Energizing Hydra-Wear Express Body Lotion. My beauty therapist slathers this all over my arms at the end of my facial (if you've never had a Clarins facial - they're the best), and I always leave smelling soooo good and loving how soft my arms feel for the rest of the day.

Despite being a beauty junkie, I so do not go for body lotions. Really dont have the time or inclination, despite having a lovely collection of them matching my fragrances. I do however, make sure I use a moisturising body wash in the shower - that takes care of that!

I love the Body Shop when it comes to body lotions. Although they are a thicker body butter, but my faves are Papaya and Africa Spa... mmmm yumbo

I love the Body Shop Body Butters also but find they are a bit heavy for use during the day. I like to slather them on at night so I wake up with really soft hydrated skin. My favourites are coconut, grapeseed and mango:)

Glad I am not the only one!! Do actually have a L'oreal spray body oil which I use in summer. Not greasy at all and really makes your legs glisten. Smells good too. :)

I love the Pure Fiji Body lotion (coconut/frangapani) teamed with the shower gel. Tip: If you are going to Fiji, buy it there, its much cheaper.
I also love Sohum's Coconut or Vanilla Body Moisture Creme. The scent is so heady & long lasting I skip my perfume.
For my feet I can't beat Mancine's Marine Foot Massage Lotion. Its a pro product (nail tech in the family) but if you can get it, get the whole range.

I adore the Reniu range (available at David Jones and rescu beauty bar). Reniu products are made with pure coconut oil and extracts and then they are infused with a scent. The Body lotions are too gorgeous for words and are also very very hydrating! They are also extremely well priced (about $16 for 354ml). The sugar scrubs are great and give a thorough exfoliation. The body butters are super hydrating and quite rich. I just love love love these products. I currently have the lotions, scrubs and butters in:

Watermelon Infusion (my very favourite):hearts:

Pineapple Infusion

Franjipani

I have the Reniu Coconut Tiare infusion body lotion. Its like a coco cross frangapani.

I believe that the Reniu range is made by the Pure Fiji people. Check out their website. Pure Fiji is more expensive because it is higher quality. Compare the ingrediants lists & you'll see.

Missed this one too! Gah! There are so many great body lotions out there, and I can never decide between floral and food scents. Some smell so good you don't need fragrance.

For luxury I like Kiehls Creme De Corps (thanks PCC for this recommendation) and for every day, Palmer's Cocoa Butter or MOR. And Cake, yum!

I've always wanted to try the Jessica Simpson Dessert line (no poking fun at me girls), it looks fun and smells delish. I read a Kate Beckinsdale quote that said her husband comes at her with a spoon when she wears it!

In summer though I've been using body oils rather than lotions, during the day and after showering. Favourite is Nars Body Glow II (monoi oil) which I got for an absolute steal ($60) in the US (it's $180 here, crazy). I'd like to try the Hei Poa line, has anyone used it?

Raspberry Beret - At the moment Priceline have a sale and you can get three Jessica Simpson Dessert Whips in a pack for $14.95! They are normally around $65! They are actually tasteable as is everything in her range (even the fragrances)! I didn't find them particularly hydrating but they smell so good. I actually use them as shaving cream! They make excellent shaving cream and they do hydrate a little so make fabulous shaving creams! If you get them you will have to have a little taste yum yum!

Fantastic, thanks for letting me know about the sale! What a bargain. Think I'll have to nip out in my lunch hour tomorrow and snap it up! I'll report back. If all else fails at least I'll have three yummy-smelling shaving creams to use :spin:

Have you tried any of the Lush shower creams or buttercreams? I think you mentioned you use the jellies...?

pinkcupcake
11-01-2007, 10:54 PM
Oooh Yeah, I love the Lush Butter Creams. Some are softer then others so you have to be careful not to get the softer ones too wet (ie don't leave them in the shower, take them out and let them dry between showers). Here is a list of the ones I love:

Emperor of Icecream - creamy and hydrating

Ring of Roses- smells just like Stella by Stella McCartney fragrance

Lemslip - smells like fresh ripe tangy lemons

Almond - Quite soft but also has exfoliating properties, super hydrating as well.

My absolute favourite (and only recently discovered) is the Spa Organics range from Priceline, it keeps my skin hydrated all day and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy. I purchased a large tub last week after finshing the small one I received as present at christmas, I think it only cost about $8.

I used to use body moisturisers from the Clarins range - they are REALLY good but now I've found a cheapo that works just as well!;)

I would have to say the body shop body butters for winter because like everyonenhas said they are very rich and i find they melt off in the heat. But they leave your skin so smooth and so fragrant. I use the papaya and shea butter one. The lotions are also as good at the butters just lighter.

This isn't a cream but it is the Dry Oil from the body shop and it is amazing. My sister never used anything but this everyday. Its moisturising, smell wonderful and gives your skin an amazing gleam without looking greasey. I suggest everyone try it. Its cool how it works, it just dissapears into your skin. I recommend coconut and mango.

Overall any body lotion from the Body Shop is wonderful.

I love body lotions by Sohum. :hearts:
They're fabulous & last nearly all day. And because they are nearly all natural they smell devine and not chemically & last longer than most other lotions that are full of chemicals...

I've got the Mandarin one & another one with Tangerine, Vanilla & something else... both smell yum!

I find any type of body butter to heavy as my skin isn't super dry. Even in winter a lotion is substantial.

After reading your response PP I made a dash in my lunch to check out the body shop dry oils - and came away with 2 - they are georgous, I've just sat at my desk and tried it out on my legs - got some funny looks but then someone popped their head over our dividing wall (don't you hate those things!) and asked what the nice smell was! - I got the mango one and the passionfruit one. thanks for the tip! :hugs:

:waving: HI!! Rasperberryberet .........I bought the jessica simpson mouse range from priceline and to be honest its disappointing. The smell isnt that nice and neither is the texture it leaves on your skin. its quite drying. But for the price at moment its only $10 so thats a great bargain. i definitely heard alot about the CAKE range. Can anyone tell me what the texture is like? as it also states that this is a mouse?? is it similiar to jessica simpson range??

Does anybody use the Alpha-H body lotion? I use a St Ives one at the moment which does it's bit to make my skin soft but I feel like I'd like something with a bit more...oomph. Some active ingredients or something.

Also I have some stretch mark scars on my hips and bum was wondering if any particular body lotion would help them?

Hi Toastie

The best way to help stretch marks scaring is to keep the skin supple so that no more form, and anything with Gotu Kola (a herb extract), vitamin E and small doses of Retin-A will also help, unfortunately there's little in the way of getting rid of them

Luisa Brown
12-03-2007, 06:52 PM
Toastie, the Alpha H one is particularly good as it contains AHA in high concentration. For specific stetch mark treatment there is a "dry" body oil which does the trick called Bio Oil that you can pick up at Priceline or pharmacies. Whatever you use, try and include a good body scrub at least two or three times a week.

Hi Toastie.

Try Bio Oil. Its fantastic. U buy it from the chemist, and if you use it religiously you get great results. Its about $12, so a bargain. I also use it on my cuticles.

I was thinking about a post like this a while ago, probably after I received a free Jo Malone body lotion. This is probably the best I've ever, ever used. It leaves a silky, soft feel on your skin, and a soft shine to your skin, like a silky look (like a moist look....if that makes sense). It lasts a couple of days, and doesnt wash off....I absolutely am loving Jo Malone, and am making a trip into the city tomorrow to buy a full bottle, despite the cost.:flames:

Oh, and I have the Lime, basil and mandarin scent, which I love too for the invigoration it provides of a morning....:penguin:

PSS, I've tried the Kiehls, but didnt find it worth repurchasing, and no-where near the Jo Malone in my humble opinion....

My body moisturisers are waiting for cooler weather...at the moment I'm using NARS Body Glow II, a beautiful light coconut oil with a tiare infusion. Smells like summer, which is slowly slipping away *sniff*. Got the bottle for a song in the US (about $60 - it's $180 here, crazy!!)

Yes, it certainly would be a good alternative. I like both the Reniu & Pure Fiji lines, but haven't tried the oils, thanks for this. They do smell lovely. I just couldn't believe the price difference for the NARS in the US, it was such a "bargain" at $60 US (as opposed to $180 AU) that I had to have it. Gah, I'm a bit of a sucker.

I bought the cooling moisturiser and have been putting it on before bed all through summer. When I hop in between the sheets there is this gorgeous silky cool feeling on your skin - hard to describe. My skin always feels amazing I am totally addicted

I've been using St Ives Whipped Silk for about a year now. It's so freaking awesome for a cheapie ($7 I think). It goes on lightly, without a greasy feeling, absorbs straight away and leaves my skin SO soft. Since I've been using it I always get "Ohmigosh your skin is so soft!" comments. It smells really gorgeous as well.

I LOVE OPI Avojuices... My fave is Coconut and Melon and I also really love Grapefruit. I have heaps of the sample sizes in these as well as a 600ml of the Coconut and Melon. OK, so I have to say, I'm really disappointed in how frequently I've been finding mineral oil in my supermarket and chemist body lotions. I thought I had weeded out the ones containing mineral oil or paraffinium but lately I have realised that most of the Dove lotions (including the Pro-Age), the Nivea in the dark blue bottle, and Palmers Shea Butter all contain mineral oil as one of their top ingredients. Even the Palmers Cocoa Butter has it, although it's about the third or fourth ingredient. The Olive Butter has it too, but it's way down the list. The Garnier Body one in the red bottle contains it too. Sigh. Anyway, yeah. I was a bit surprised. I guess it's back to exxy ones, although I reeaallly don't like to use expensive lotions twice a day because I go through body lotions sooo quickly!

Yes, this is definitely true. They also often contain mineral oil in varying amounts (ie at various points down the ingredients list). I can cope with mineral oil if it's 6th or 7th down the list but not #2 or 3. :shakehead:

I love lotioning up - I must confess, I never read ingredients though I wouldn't have a cle why mineral oil is bad.

It doesn't sink into your skin, it can't be absorbed. It just sits on top of your skin like a barrier. Fine if you're out in the wind or something and you really need a barrier from the elements, but it's bad for getting all the good nourishment stuff down into your skin. It's also not a humectant so it doesn't help to bind moisture to your skin - when you wash it off your skin is no better than it was before. So if you used a lotion containing mineral oil for a week or two straight, your skin really wouldn't be much better off.

And I love lotioning up too. God how I love it. Body lotions are up there amongst my absolute favourite things.

Hi Elmo,

AHA's can make your tan appear lighter or even blotchy to a degree depending on the amount in the product.
You could test it in an area like your stomach to see it's effect.
But I wouldn't want all my hard work of a perfect tan application going to waste!! :shakehead:

Vanillaheart
23-10-2009, 02:00 PM
Well, the Palmers Skin Smoothing Lotion is death to fake tan (I acutally used it to REMOVE my old layers) but anything that comes in a tub is usually pretty rich and moisturising but not too active. If memory serves me, I used the Souffles without any problem.

I do however prefer a "greasier" body lotion for using in conjunction with tanning. I found that the SHE products weren't very oily. I like really coating my tanned skin in a layer of grease. :chuckle:

Edit: Sorry, I read your question wrong. :chuckle: No, I never had a problem with the SHE products wrecking my tan!

This isn't new G - they've just repackaged all the Nivea stuff to make them look new! Used to be in a mid blue square bottle (like all the other nivea stuff) called Nivea Smooth Skin Lotion or something. Unfortunately I don't think they make this in a big bottle either? For some reason they only seem to do the white and dark blue bottles I think? Though I have seen the gradual tanner in a bigger bottle too so maybe they might soon?

Vanillaheart

Yeah it's the same formula in a new packaging. I actually fortunately stumbled on some of the old bottles which they were selling really cheaply in Priceline. It's a good thing too, because I go through about one bottle a week!

I don't care really though, I am really glad I have given it a try, I love the fact it does not have that heavy sickly (to me) Nivea smell, I will keep using this for a long time I think, its the only one that I have actually got into a habit with, I love how it makes my skin feel and of course it is no longer itchy and dry which has got to be good!:worship::clapping:

The white one is super light - I love the smell, and it sinks in beautifully etc, but it's not moisturising enough for me. Basically white is light, light blue is mid, dark blue is super thick and hydrating (but I find too greasy for daytime use).

Oh poo!

As for MMU, I have decided to retire the name and company and am starting up a new company called Perfumatory, www.perfumatory.com, the focus will be more on streamlined, natural and organic bath and body products and custom and original fragrancing, no more duping. I don't think the scent bar will run anywhere near 700 like it did with MMU, and that really will be a good thing, more organized and extra focus on products. I should be opening by early 2010, around Feb./March, sometime.

I've been using the Nivea Q10 firming lotion recently. I'm not sure about any result of firming, but my skin is certainly liking the hydrating factor! :clapping:

I have been using Bath and Body works boy cream in Sweet Pea. The fragrance is nice, but the cream is so nourishing. I wish I had bought more of these
